Super Deluxe Fun

One of the best parts of having our old friend Tivo back is the recent addition of Super Deluxe TivoCast.

So, KO and I signed up for a Season Pass, which means every weekday....a new nugget of comedy gold arrives on our Tivo Now Playing List.

Great stuff, indeed. Like today we received this little gem with a history lesson about our 35th president.

Also, just for my dear readers, a little sample of Tim & Eric Nite Live.

Happy downloading!

Welcome Back, Old Friend

As KO mentioned here...

A few days previous, KO was able to resurrect a dear member of the family.

No, no...Zoe didn't suddenly fall victim to a coma....shame on you for even thinking it.

Instead, our dear Tivo was restored with a new and improved 160 GB hard drive, rendering it 4 times faster than she was during her previous 3 year tour of duty.

I cannot tell you how much I've missed her.
NO LONGER will I require deciphering a show by (gasp!) recognizing the characters and cross-referencing them through my internal catalogue of banal and useless information embedded betwixed my ears.

NO LONGER will the need arise to dust off some outdated reel to reel media and relay all those lines of resolution onto a piece of plastic known throughout the latter half of the previous century as
V-I-D-E-O T-A-P-E.
The fact that the antique contraption utilized in said recording hasn't been submitted to the Smithsonian as a whimsical relic, recalling to mind the good-ole-days, is a feat in itself.

NO LONGER will our bedroom TV be subjected to the substandard world it knew too well not so long ago. You would be a fool to think that such a thing could 0ccur with retaliation.

I put it to you, Greg....Isn't the mere thought that this atrocity occurred without swift judiciary action by some anagrammed governing body....well, is that not a clear example of cruel and unusual punishment?

I would say so.

Instead, after a week of reverting back to the dark ages, KO began the delicate work of bringing our beloved antennaed companion back from the brink.

After a tension-filled half hour, like Jesus pulling Lazarus from his tomb, KO emerged from the delicate procedure and defiantly called me with the sweetest sounds these ears have captured since the day she said "I do": (I'm talking about KO....stay with me.)
The euphoric start-up animation we've both come to know and love: Our Tivo was home again.

Now, our dear friend is back and better than ever, doing all the legwork...finding our favorite shows...prepping it all for hours of entertainment....and what doth she receive in return?
Only my undying adoration.

When I sit back and think hard about the lesson we've all learned in the dramatic tale of love, loss, and redemption...I can only think of the immortal words uttered by the sage-like hair band Cinderella:

Don't know what you got
'Til it's gone

Truer words were ne'er spoken.

Thanks for fighting the good fight, old pal.
May the road ahead be filled with nothing but green fields and thumbs way up.

Rediscovering the (Powder) Blues

There is a God. Other than George Brett....or this lady.

My prayers hath been answered.

Now, if only KC can woo a hockey team from some struggling market?

Patience. Cory. One miracle at a time.

Dark Side of The Rainbow

So, I'm slaving away at the office today....running around, barking orders, kissing hands, shaking babies...you know, a typical Friday.

Then, a magazine in the newsroom caught my eye. Mainly, because Bill Murray was on the cover -- in a Fat Jumpsuit Elvis costume, no less. So, I'm flipping through the book, looking for the cover article, when I happen upon another blurb talking about the "Dark Side of the Rainbow" phenomenom. You know about this, right? The syncronicity between The Wizard of Oz and Pink Floyd's Dark Side of the Moon. If you're interested, you can find articles critiquing the experiment at StraightDope, the first mainstream reporter experiment, and an entire site dedicated to the process.

How cool is the InterWeb?

If you don't know of what I speak, see link above. We can still be friends...just read the Wiki first. I'll wait.

If you do know what's up, you're a cool person. I'm not sure why I'm hanging on the other half. Seriously...how do you not know about this? Why aren't you filling your head with useless info like me?

Moving on...

Welcome back. I did some extensive research (i.e typed in youtube.com) and found exactly what i suspected -- The first part of the film available right at your fingertips (here is a playlist I've made for your conveinience).

If you want to the original movie soundtrack mashed in with the album track...google video has you covered.

Did I mention how much I love YouTube...and the InterWeb?

So, fire up a fattie, sit back and relax. Heaven awaits over the rainbow.

Omaha Mall Massacre Topical

This is the topical i created for Wednesday night at work. KO also links to it for her Wordless Wednesday post.

i nixed the other 4 ideas i had after seeing this horrific story all over the cable news station.

just a little window in my world...

Can't get enough of my work? Check out my sparse and unimpressive YouTube channel.

Crooks Using Charities

Another topical from last week. Turned out that a woman who thought she was giving back to a great charity ended up sending her donations through an imposter.

tought to hear about at that giving time of year, huh?

the bites ended up working great for this spot...check it out.

Can't get enough of my work? Check out my sparse and unimpressive YouTube channel.

If you're really batshit crazy and like this stuff, you can always subscribe. Really.

Hidden Flight Simulator on Google Earth

I haven't tried it yet, but...

How cool is this?

Amazing to think all that work is put into a "hidden" feature.

Maybe they're "soft-launching" it (no pun intended) for beta testers.

Either way...another cool reason to download Google Earth.

I've Been Simpsonized!

Thanks in large part to my sweetie.

I've tried with no success to do this for a couple of weeks....thankfully, KO has the Midas touch.

So, here I am...in all my Simpson-fonic glory.

Want to make your own Springfieldian?

Go here and simpsonize away.

Are We Not Ads? We Are DEVO!

OK, I'm a total geek. Allow me to explain.

I am a huge DEVO fan. One of my many lifetime concert highlights was seeing them with the sportslady at Music Midtown in Atlanta a couple years ago when they reunited for a world tour.

So, imagine my excitement when I saw a new Dell ad. Not for the computer...that would be silly.

No, the music bed for the advert was a new song by DEVO called "Work It".

Is a new album in the works? This spud can only hope.

Please to enjoy.

OK_Computer_X

If you're as big of a fan of Radiohead's groundbreaking album, OK Computer...here's something that I think you will like.

Stereogum compiled a bunch of their favorite bands/musicians to create a song-by-song cover compilation. Very cool.

The best part: It's all free here.

Happy listening!

Bruce Campbell At His Best

When I saw this first Old Spice ad starring B-Movie legend Bruce Campbell -- I absolutely adored it. It was like watching Evil Dead all over again.

Nobody does campy acting like Bruce.

So, if you are a fan like moi, I hope you will enjoy this next diamond in the rough (see below) from our boy Bruce:

When Perception Meets Prejudice

Every day, I watch the coverage of the Virginia Tech killings.

Every day, the media focus on more and more insignificant things associated with the killer, like the fact that he's lived in the US since age 8, yet the first thing you see attached to him is "native of South Korea".  Also, descriptions of him being "sullen" and a "loner".  How many people do you know that fall under that same umbrella?

Every day, the next expert du jour talks about all the warning signs exuded by Cho Sueng Hui, how the campus should've been locked down, and how it all could've possibly been prevented.

You want to know what I think the real story is?

All that stuff is bullshit.  This could've happened anywhere at any time.  Yes, Cho sounds disturbed...but no more so than many people in this country.  All the other stuff is just fishing for a way to separate a mass murderer from the masses.

We all think there are always warning signs.  The real scary part is that it's not a stretch to think that your neighbor, your co-worker, your friend could be capable of the same thing.

That is what really scares me.

My apologies if I seem a bit terse and cold in my commentary.  My heart goes out to all those affected by this horrific tragedy.

Knock Out: The Movie

So. Damn. Funny.

This reminds me of all the stupid shit my brother and I would do with our friends in the basement.

Nice to know we weren't the only weirdos acting like video game crazed imbeciles in '87.

Also, if you have the patience, here's one guy's one hit run through the whole Tyson Knock Out game.
